Introduction:
Reincarnation 5570 is the name of Joey, Irene and Ying's science fiction story for English class. We are doing it because we want extra credit. . Stupid reason, but in the process we get to devise a very complicated plot.
Plot:
The plot is still a little fuzzy right now, but basically we have the end of the world story. Global warming means that the ice polar caps have melted, and nearly all the world is covered in water. Setting is still undecided. All we know right now is that it is set in a city. The government of this city has recently learned from their scientists that the world is due to end - Amagadden - in approximately one year. They are keeping it a secret for fear that the news would cause world-wide panic. All the forestry has already disappeared off the face of earth. The only way they can hope to save themselves is to build something that can seek out any last remains of seeds or plants. Their only hope.
Scientist Francis Palmer Clinton has designed a robot he is certain will save them all. This robot, called 'The Human Objective Randiir Nali' or 'Thorn' looks like a completely normal seventeen year old boy. (This is a tad unrealistic, but we don't want the citizens freaking out after all. You'll see, it relates to the romance.) What Francis doesn't realize is that Thorn is actually conscious. When Francis proudly shows his creation to President Nolan and his government officials, Thorn hears everything that is said and is appalled. In the middle of the night, he escapes.
Thorn, although endowed with keen intelligence and robotic power, is, still, just a robot. He has never seen the outside world before, and everything both fascinates and scares him.
Even though no one but the Government knows that the world is going to end, effects of starvation and global warming has affected everyone both physically and mentally. We are left to imagine a once beautiful and sophisticated city now brought to ruins, the people living like they did somewhat in the Middle Ages.
A group of boys, hooligans to be exact, spies Thorn alone and in their desperation, tries to rob him. Upon finding he has nothing, they dump him in disgust in an alleyway. Thorn was taken by surprise and is badly injured, his arm dripping oil.
Meanwhile Birch is busy cleaning as a barmaid. She is one of the lowerclass citizens, and has always suffered a hard life. Also seventeen, she finds Thorn when she goes out early in the morning to put out the rubbish. She is too concerned to just leave the strange looking boy there, and so decides to take him to her house. She bandages his wound and feels uneasy around him because he keeps on asking for oil/fuel, which she doesn't understand. He's confused by food because even though it's in his vocabulary, he doesn't technically need to eat.
Later they bond up and go to save the world on their own. At the end of their travels they discover a mysterious cave. Inside is like a rainforest. They are overjoyed, of course. Birch has never seen plants or trees before. Thorn has a vision, and when he comes out of it he's holding seeds. Then the ground starts to lurch and tremble, and the cave begins to crumble. They both make it out in time but Thorn is badly injured.
They make it back, stopping in a village for Thorn to recover. (A lot of this journey involves crossing water.)
Back home, they reveal the truth and are hailed as heroes. The seeds are planted, and so are planted the roots of life.
